(Experience) How does VVDI2 program VW 5TH IMMO Audi A4 B8 remote key?

VVDI2 Key Programmer It’s tested working make a new Audi A4 B8 remote key with VW 5th immobilizer system! Below are steps to follow:

Step1. Connect VVDI2 with car and open VVDI2 software.

Choose “Audi”.


Click “Key Learn” and choose “5th immobilizer system”.


Step2. Click “Read BCM Data (OBDII)” button.


Insert a working key to turn on ignition before continue.

If the key is already in car, you also need to remove it then insert it again.

If you lost all keys, you need to open car headlight and step on the brake before continue.

After read data success, name and save the bin file.


Step3. Click “Make Dealer Key” button.


Tip 1:

If car is A4/A5/Q5, press YES button to continue, no need working key.

If car is A6/A7/A8/VW Touareg, press NO button because it needs working key. Click “YES”.

Tip 2:

If you want to program an OEM key, make sure the new key support change ID. Click “YES”.

Choose “Program normal dealer key” option, click “Next” and “OK” to load the BCM file.


Step4. Put the new key into VVDI2 programmer.


Click “OK” and VVDI2 start to program new key.

Wait a while and VVDI2 make new dealer key successfully!


Step5. Change key number from 1 to 2.

Click “Key Learning” button then press “OK” to load the BCM bin file.

VVDI2 start learn key.

Use the working key to turn on ignition then insert the new key to learn


After key learning, the new key is working! VVDI2 FULL make new remote key for Audi A4 B8 successfully!

This beginner’s guide was created considering the number of questions that have been coming up recently whether related to installation, configuration and/or usage. The guide attempts to answer fundamental questions on what the tool is for, what can you do with it and how to configure it so that you can connect to the car and run diagnostics on all cars and in case of F/G/i/Mini/RR cars, programming.

  • Programming can be accessed via the “Vehicle management” / “Software update” menu.
  • The planned actions are initially produced in the measures plan. The measures plan determined after the vehicle test can be done directly in the “Comfort” tab, or added to manually beforehand in the “Advanced” tab, then calculated and executed.
  • The car can be programmed to the latest I level using the comfort software update without any further actions based on the measures plan which has already been determined.
  • It is not possible to select additional actions manually in this menu.
    Initializations and follow-up operations that might be required are automatically added during the measures plan calculation.

Checking your State of Charge and Battery Registration with ISTA+

Connect to the car using your preferred cable.

  • Do a vehicle test
  • After a vehicle test, go to Vehicle Management –> Service functions tab.
  • Next select Body, then Voltage Supply
  • Then select Battery

Here you will be presented with 2 options:

  • Option 1 is to test SOC. Choose Evaluate Battery State of Charge OR
  • Option 2 – Register Battery Replacement
  • Then click on at the bottom right. The ABL/FUB/REP and/or SSP will be populated. Select the FUB or REP to learn more OR select the ABL and run it.

NOTE: If changing battery types, coding is required before you can register battery replacement.

Experience SuperOBD SKP900 program 2010 Ford Focus 4D63 remote key Fast

You need to find out which bulb has triggered the short circuit counter
Run the job “status_lampen_kurzschluss” and this will show which bulbs are triggered with a 1, all other bulbs will show 0

Once you know the bulb, look up the bulb number in the Tabellen-info window, look for the LAMPNRTEXTE- it’ll look like this

Run job “reset_kurzschluss_sperre” and in the Arguments box, type the lamp number you want to reset, for example 0x04 and run the job.

Here some pieces of Xtool VAG401 VAG scan tool reviews. Thanks to obd2tool.co.uk customers’ experience and feedback.


– I did try using Xtool VAG401 to activate my fuel pump (2013 JSW TDI), as though replacing a fuel filter. With version 8.41 of the software installed on it, when going to Engine/Basic Settings/035, it runs the pump for about a second and then the pump clicks off. It would seem there’s a bug in that version.

– xtool vag401 reads the same codes, shows the same measuring blocks, activates the same output tests, etc., as VCDS. I would not at all want to try long coding with one, but for diagnostic use it seems to be entirely adequate. The choice is not limited to “VCDS or generic OBD-II”.

– A small standalone device like a VAG401 is simply more convenient for simple jobs–reading codes, checking measuring blocks, maybe changing a fuel filter (mine doesn’t seem to work for this, but others’ do). And, of course, it’s considerably less expensive.

– VAG401 will pull VW-specific codes. These can be more specific than the OBD-II codes, as the latter are a standard set of codes used by all automakers. The VW codes also, as I understand it, cover control modules that don’t register OBD-II codes (for example, I don’t think you can use an OBD-II reader to pull codes from your radio, but you can use a VAG tool for that).

The VAG401 claims to be able to do pretty much everything VCDS can do. It can read codes, clear codes, read measuring blocks, do output tests, code modules, etc. But it doesn’t have anywhere near the UI that VCDS has. For example, the TDI timing graph tool in VCDS is great for timing your injection pump after replacing a timing belt–I wouldn’t want to do that by just reading numbers on the screen, but numbers on the screen are what you’d get with a VAG401. VCDS has a long coding assistant, breaking out multibyte module coding into individual, documented bits. I expect (haven’t tested this yet) that the VAG401 will do that coding, but you’ll need to look up the bit/byte locations yourself, and calculate the binary/hex conversion.

OTOH, the VAG401 is under 30GBP from www.obd2tool.co.uk, while VCDS starts at $250. The VAG401 is a compact, lightweight, standalone device that doesn’t need batteries (it’s powered by the car when you plug it in). If all you want to do is read codes on occasion, I’d think it would do fine for you. I’d suspect it would do better than the Torque/bluetooth dongle approach, due to its ability to read the VW-specific codes, though it will cost a bit more.

There is one HUGE caveat – I ALREADY KNOW the channels I need to get to. So, for me, I hit basic settings or measuring blocks and know what channel to enter to get to the data I need. The VAG401 labels are TERRIBLE, so channels are often mislabeled, but, I don’t care since I know whats what.

However, I LEARNED all these channels on my VCDS tool, so, really, I couldn’t do what I do with VAG401 without VCDS. VAG401 is OBDII powered so I don’t need to boot up a laptop/smartphone to get DSG transmission temp, or prime a fuel filter on a common-rail etc. For basic service the VAG401 does what I need and is faster to use, but you *STILL* need a VCDS if you are going to do anything complicated. Finally, the VAG401 is super cheap so I’m much less worried about crunching it on a door, dropping it etc. versus dropping a laptop.
